A significant milestone for the maritime and port industry was marked today at DP World Callao, Peru, with the successful Shore Power Connection pilot involving the CMA CGM PLATINUM.

Shore power enables vessels to connect directly to the terminal’s electrical grid while alongside, reducing reliance on onboard auxiliary engines and contributing to lower fuel consumption, operating costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

The CMA CGM PLATINUM, a 335-metre container vessel, was selected for this pilot. During its call at Callao, the vessel is scheduled to handle more than 3.300 container moves, including 1.392 containers to be discharged and 1.943 to be loaded.
