The vessel initially arrived in the Bay of Concepción on May 5, remaining at anchorage while awaiting improved weather conditions for berthing at the Huachipato terminal in San Vicente.

During this period, coordinated operations included the disembarkation of scientists of multiple nationalities, while maintaining continuous logistical and operational support for the vessel.

Following an improvement in weather conditions, RV Meteor successfully berthed on May 7 at the South Pier of Huachipato, where a wide range of coordinated services were carried out.

Operations included crew changes, passenger and scientist transfers, waste removal, delivery of spare parts, provisions and supplies, pilot embarkation for the vessel’s transit through the Strait of Magellan towards the Atlantic, port visits coordination and bunkering operations alongside tanker vessel Doña Josefina.

For Ian Taylor Talcahuano, this operation represented another opportunity to demonstrate strong coordination capabilities for highly specialised scientific and research vessels.

Despite adverse weather conditions affecting the port call, all services requested by the principal were successfully executed within a significantly tighter operational window than originally forecasted and without disruptions.

The vessel sailed from San Vicente on May 8, continuing its scientific expedition across the South Atlantic toward Recife, Brazil.
